Perhaps the most recognized flag on the planet, the United States flag is an icon for freedom, justice, and triumph. Since Betsy Ross created the original, the flag has flown over the blood-stained sands of Iwo Jima, flown on the moon, covered the coffins of countless fallen soldiers, and has burned patriotism into the hearts of millions of Americans. The flag even has its own strict code for its handling, flying and care. This symbol of America is one of our most cherished and loved icons. We all know it, respect it, and love it...at least most of us.
President Obama has received little coverage in the news for his latest offense to the American way of life. He has changed the flag to look like this:
This is an affront and a disgrace to the flag. The red of the original American flag represents the blood spilt by those who died for freedom, and Obama has the tenacity to use their blood for his own personal campaign. This is the same man who refused to wear a flag pin on his suit jacket. One will also note that Obama lacks knowledge of basic American history, as he has changed the number of stripes from 13 to 9. Obama has also removed the 50 stars which were to represent the 50 states of America that create a
"new constellation." He has replaced our states with his own original campaign logo--a symbol that his federal government tyrannically rules over our 50 states.
No matter what political party you may fall under, I hope that you can agree with me that this changing of the flag is offensive and un-American. We should honor our individual states, respect the blood of the fallen and realize that the flag is a symbol of unity--not a symbol of Obama's liberal party. I'll end my note with a joke: the blue of the flag symbolizes "the color of the Chief." I guess Obama favorites Washington, Oregon, most of Idaho, a chunk of Montana, Nevada, and the top of California.
